Usually bullies are thought to be people who make fun of people and sometimes add violence to the weaker. But in fact I have never seen bullies hitting or kicking other people before. The most that I have seen with my eyes are people calling names, which only lasts for 2 days maximum. But those people who get bullied tend to be a so-called, 'geek' or 'nerd' looking. It is kinda hard to explain their characteristics so it may be good if you can google it. I think they get bullied because they look weaker than the ones who bully. Bulliers just go to take on some weaker than they are.
In Japan, there have been many news on bullying. I think Japan's bullying is going over the line. Saying things like 'die' or giving violence that is too harsh etc. This might be caused by the media, where some kids may have seen news on other kids bullying and be influenced by it. I think Japanese kids need to be able to know the limit of what is okay and what is not.
When children bully someone, it's true that they choose weaker child than them. That's sad.

There is definitely a fair bit of "copycat" behavior here, be it in relation to crimes, or whatever. Saying "die" etc is most certainly going over the line too. The pressure to be exactly like everyone else is a societal problem I think, but school bullying is where it rears it's ugly head first.
